What is Posture Exercise Therapy?

Posture exercise therapy is not a medical procedure or process, nor is it like physical or occupational therapy. It takes the whole body into consideration, not just one part, such as a “bad knee.” It is not a fad – nor is it complicated, like rocket science. The simplest explanation for its effectiveness is this:

Bones do what muscles tell them to do. When muscles are engaged so they function properly, then they move the joints as they were meant to be moved and the body is (and tends to stay) in alignment. When the joints are returned to proper (or even just better) alignment, joint degeneration and muscle aches and pains are greatly reduced.

Posture exercise therapy utilizes exercises from several disciplines, and there are many specific exercises that were created just for this program. All of them are designed to gently engage muscles to restore your body’s alignment to its functional design position with ankles, knees, hips and shoulders properly aligned.

The image above shows some of the changes that are possible. Although the “After” posture isn’t perfect, it is greatly improved and the client is less likely to experience pain and joint degeneration. Even if your body is seriously misaligned, and has been for years, you can still experience pain relief and other benefits from doing posture exercise therapy. You feel better when your muscles work properly, even if you still have some misalignments of your joints (such as in scoliosis or post joint-replacement surgery). Read my book, How Did I Not Know About This? Becoming Pain-Free Through Posture Therapy to learn how my colleagues and I - and a few of our clients - have benefited from posture therapy. It’s why we do this work!
